A photojournalist with four decades of experience, Phil Velasquez covered Chicago sports, culture and breaking news for the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times. Moving to New Mexico full-time in 2018, he turned his eye to the beauty and textures of his new home. The Pro Football Hall of Fame features his work on Walter Payton, and he’s been honored by the National Press Photographers Association and Baseball Hall of Fame.
