Abeyta’s complex themes will include Native American, classical and modern myths, imagery and belief systems—all enfolded in the artist’s powerful creative vocabulary.
“The spring show will release several major works, most on a large scale,” explains Abeyta. “They are based on Taos scenes and relate to Taos Pueblo—the majestic surroundings and the mystery of such a profound place. The works in this series are called Intimate Places. In short, these works are about the relationship that we have to nature, plants and animals, but they retain a sense of place and a response to that place.”
These never-before seen works display Abeyta’s originality and imaginative strength. This is a chance to view the latest creations of a dynamic young artist at the height of his career. Celebrate a fresh voice in contemporary Native art as he explores an array of themes, techniques and mediums—all bound by Abeyta’s devotion to art of great versatility, expansiveness and power.
