"Spoils of War" is an object in the form of a game. The piece also describes the definitions of spoil: plunder taken from an enemy in war, and an object damaged or flawed in the making. It is physical communication of sacrifice that is essential to chess, and yet is played on a vintage corona card table with broken bottles to emphasize the effects of PTSD and coping mechanisms. Is there glory for the sacrificed pawn?

Cannupa\'s work is incredible.
